Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is buried here alongside Amir Khusro โ the legendary Sufi poet and musician who invented many forms of Hindustani music including the tabla. Emperor Akbar built the entire city of Fatehpur Sikri around this Sufi saint's home in gratitude โ Sheikh Salim Chishti had predicted Akbar's long-awaited son (Jahangir). The white marble tomb with exquisite lattice screens is one of the finest examples of Mughal funerary architecture. Women tie threads on the marble screens to seek blessings for children. The Buland Darwaza gate (victory gate) towers 54 metres above the mosque courtyard.
